Lost ... Found

(Lost ... Found)

The day I first saw the hideous light of the world,
I panicked … cried out loud,
At the sight of masked strangers.
Slid into a sleep … terrified …
That was the first time I was scared.

As the cacophony of the “new” faded,
As I blinked into reality …
I saw you!
I was mesmerized …
As I saw caring motherliness
Cascading from your loving eyes.
You too were overwhelmed,
As if you finally have the fruit of all your prayers.
Felt … I don’t need to be afraid anymore …
I am with the one I was longing for …
From now it will be just you and me.

I like nothing without you,
Company of others,
Their love, caress … nothing!
And Love was born with this … for the first time.
I love eating from your hands,
I love it when you bathe me,
To be one with you.

One day, abruptly, you ceased to be,
Bankrupting me of your love for the first time.
Everyone said you’re in the heavens … a star …
I have looked for you in the endless night sky, with untiring eyes,
Hoped to see you in the daylight, on land, rivers, oceans …
But where are you? … thoughts cloud the mind …

The black nimbus clouds, are they your hair?
The red sunset, is that the color of your saree?
The blue ocean your psyche?
